another Waste Management/Town of Strasburg fiasco

They just don't get it. If a change in plans occurs less than 24 or 48 hours before a planned event, then unless each person gets notified individually, not everybody will get the word.

WM divided the town up into five sectors. Normally, they pickup weekly trash five days a week, Monday through Friday.

At the beginning of each year the town provides a "trash holiday schedule" that shows when trash won't be picked up on the normally scheduled day because of a holiday. Monday being Labor Day, the "trash holiday schedule" for this year shows that trash pickup will be shifted one day to Tuesday through Saturday.

Are you with me so far?

This morning I noticed that only five trash cans on our street were out for pickup. Normally, there are at least two dozen trash cans out for pickup. What happened?

There was a change to the change. Late Thursday we learned that our trash will be picked up on the normally scheduled day. Most of the people on our street didn't get the word. Interestingly, Waste Management, that didn't pickup any trash for a week or more earlier this year (https://strasburgunderground.blogspot.com/2025/07/outrage.html,   https://strasburgunderground.blogspot.com/2025/07/typical-strasburg.html), is able to pickup 5 days of trash in four days. Go figure.

The town thinks that posting these changes on the town's website and/or Facebook is sufficient notification. They don't realize that many folks don't have Facebook and the ones who do don't log into Facebook every day. They also seem to think that everybody logs into the town's sorry website every day, every hour. IMAGINE THAT!!! They also believe that neighbors "spreading the word" is sufficient. RIDICULOUS!!! CLEARLY, none of these work. But, instead of facing the facts, Waste Management and the town continue to live in LA LA LAND and change the waste pickup schedule as if everybody gets the word. HOW STUPID IS THAT?!

Fiasco, SNAFU, FUBAR.
